08/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Biodiesel Board (EBB) welcomed the seizure by Italian Customs in the ports of Venice and Trieste of 10,000 tonnes of biodiesel imported illegally in terms of anti-subsidy and anti-dumping duties imposed on American B99 biodiesel. “The load was declared as being of Canadian origin, but strong evidence indicates that it originated instead in the United States where it benefited from illegal US subsidies,” the EBB says. Since anti-dumping measures were put in place against US B99, the EBB has repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that these duties are being circumvented, either by means of triangular trade with a non-EU state based on false declarations of origin or blends that are designed to avoid the duties.
