14/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 14 October, the European Commission announced that additional aid of €2 million would be granted for Afghanistan. The funds will primarily be used for food assistance to the populations of northern Afghanistan, hit by severe flooding. One million euro from a budget of €35 million allocated to Afghanistan in April has, moreover, been earmarked for shelter and repairs to homes damaged during the floods.
