14/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - With Austria's backing, Luxembourg is pushing for all the EU measures currently under way on good tax governance to form part of an over-arching package, and this attitude is stopping the agreement of an anti-fraud deal between the EU and Liechtenstein and the granting of negotiating mandates to the European Commission for arranging similar deals with Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Switzerland. There is huge uncertainty about whether the ECOFIN Council on Tuesday 20 October 2009 will be able to note any progress in the matter. Some progress might be made in December if there is a breakthrough in the talks on revision of the taxation directive. (M.B. trans fl)
