08/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - Two members of the EU police mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL) were slightly injured in a further car bomb suicide attack which hit the Afghan capital on the morning of Thursday 8 October, leaving 17 dead and 63 injured. The attack, which occurred near the Afghan Ministry of the Interior in the highly protected area of Kabul, is the fifth since mid-August and has been strongly condemned by Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, by the Afghan Presidency and by the United Nations. “I strongly condemn this horrific act of terrorism. The perpetrators will not succeed in destabilising Afghan society and undermining international efforts in Afghanistan”, Solana said, stressing that the EU will continue to support Afghanistan.
