02/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced that it plans to contribute up to €4.3 million (650 million Vatu) to support the construction of a 2.75 MW wind farm on the island of Efate, Vanuatu. The wind farm is being built by Unelco Vanuatu Ltd, which is part of the GTDF-Suez Group. It is the first wind farm to be implemented in Vanuatu and it is hoped this will form a reference project for other Pacific islands. (O.L./transl.jl)
