02/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On 2 October, the Commission confirmed that it had sent a statement of objections to the airlines British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia. The Commission is concerned that the cooperation of these members of the "OneWorld Alliance" Association on passenger transport over transatlantic routes is incompatible with Community antitrust rules. The parties to the agreement have expressed their intention of cooperating over timetable management, service capacity and prices over routes between the North American continent and Europe. In a press release issued the same date, the Commission notes that its investigation into four members of the rival "Star Alliance" association is still underway. These four airlines are Lufthansa, Continental, United and Air Canada. (C.D./transl.fl)
