29/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - After medium and long-range missiles were fired by Tehran on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 September, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is expected to examine the Iranian issue on Wednesday 30 September. The meeting comes just ahead of resumed talks with Tehran in the 5+1 format (Germany, China, United States, France, Russia and the United Kingdom) on the nuclear issue. Answering press questions on the sidelines of the informal meeting of defence ministers in Gothenburg, EU High Representative for the CFSP Javier Solana was not very forthcoming in his comments on the European stance. “The 1st October will be a test”, he said, assuring that the EU would like to reach diplomatic and political solutions.
