01/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 1 September, the European Commission gave the go-ahead for the proposed concentration whereby Uniqa Versicherungen AG, jointly controlled by Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich, Austria Versicherungsverein auf Gegenseitigkeit Privatstifung and Collegialität Versicherung aug Gegenseitgkeit of Austria and the Italian company Veneto Banca Holding S.C.p.A., acquire joint control of Claris, a company currently owned by Veneto Banca Holding. This will be done through a purchase of shares in the newly created joint venture. Uniqua is an insurance group, active in all insurance sectors. Veneto Banca is an Italian holding group active in banking and financial services. The joint venture will be active in the Italian life-assurance sector. (O.L./transl.rh)
