03/08/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of ERIKS N.V. by SHV Holding N.V., both of the Netherlands. SHV Holding N.V. is the holding company of a conglomerate whose companies operate worldwide in energy, consumer goods, private equity and heavy lifting. ERIKS N.V. is the holding company of a group of technical distribution companies offering mechanical engineering components and associated technical and logistical services to industrial end-users. The Commission's examination of the proposed transaction showed that the horizontal and vertical overlaps between the parties' activities are limited and there was no risk of Vanderlande closing off access to the downstream market for airport and industrial handling systems to competing actual or potential technical components' suppliers.
