Brussels, 05/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - With more than 1,000 events in 35 countries, the first European SME Week (6-14 May) will promote business in Europe and inform entrepreneurs about the support available to them at European, national and local level. The aim of the action implemented as part of the European Small Business Act, is to give SMEs the possibility to discover information, advice, assistance and ideas in order to help them develop their activities and convince young people that business is an interesting career possibility. Although it is up to DG Enterprise & Industry at the European Commission to coordinate the European SME Week, most of the events and activities will be organised in participant countries by businesses, support bodies and local and regional authorities.
