Brussels, 25/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 23 February, in Brussels, Budapest was awarded the European Mobility Week prize after selection by a panel of independent experts. The Hungarian capital was awarded the prize for having made what was considered the best effort to heighten public awareness of air pollution due to traffic, and for promoting sustainable urban transport. Budapest was ahead of the town of Almada (Portugal) and the Croatian capital, Zagreb, the other two finalists.
Mobility Week 2009 will be held from 16 to 22 September. It will be on the theme: the role of urban transport in climate change. (A.N./transl.jl)
