Commission approves aid of €6.7 billion for German bank insurance company

Brussels, 22/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 22 January, the German authorities endorsed their state aid project for the Sicherungseinrichtungsgesellschaft deutscher Banken mbH. Aid, amounting to €6.7 billion, above all aims to facilitate compensation for those using the insolvent German subsidiary of Lehman Brothers.

The Sicherungseinrichtungsgesellschaft deutscher Banken (SdB) is a newly created banking entity which supports the Deposit Protection Fund of the German private...
