14/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament defends the ecosystem approach to fisheries management. On Tuesday 13 January in Strasbourg, it adopted the report by Pedro Guerreiro (GUE/NGL, Portugal) without change on reviewing the fisheries quota system and compensation in favour of fishermen the most affected by plans for the recovery of threatened species (see details of the report in EUROPE 9815).
