04/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - The French Presidency of the European Union Council welcomes the declaration adopted in Moscow on Sunday 2 November by the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, calling for a political settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is a “very positive gesture” that will promote restored calm and stability in the South Caucasus. The decision by the parties to pursue discussion on the basis of the document approved during the OSCE Ministerial Council in Madrid in November 2007 and intensify political dialogue in collaboration with the Minsk Group will contribute to facilitating a peaceful, negotiated and balanced settlement of the conflict.
