26/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of eight MEPs, led by Alexander Lambsdorff (ALDE, Germany), will travel to New York from 30 September until 2 October for discussions with senior figures at the United Nations and the permanent representatives of several countries (including Portugal, Poland, Belgium, France and Hungary) on reform of the Security Council, how to revitalise of the General Assembly, current peace keeping operations and election observation. A further delegation of 10 MEPs, led by Adrian Severin (PES, Romania) will be in Ukraine from 1-3 October. MEPs are due to meet President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Ioulia Timochenko and Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Arseniy Yatseniuk. (H.B./transl.rt)
