EU invites Mauritanian authorities for political consultation to re-establish constitutional legality

Brussels, 15/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU Foreign Ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday 15 September approved the European Commission proposal of 4 September on opening political consultation with Mauritanian authorities under Article 96 of the Cotonou Agreement. This political consultation, considered by the European Commission as soon as word was received of the military coup on 6 August (see EUROPE 9720), is provided for in the event of violation of one or more of the essential points...
