01/08/2008 (Agence Europe) - Polish LOT airline staff took their obligation to help reduced mobility passengers literally when they refused to allow such passengers to board domestic and international flights without a personal assistant to help them (paid for by the passengers). According to research published in a Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza, on Thursday 31 July, reduced mobility passengers were also forced to give up their wheelchairs before boarding. A LOT spokesperson said, however, that this was simply a staff error due to lack of information about new rules on reduced mobility passengers that had come into force on 26 July. (A. By /transl fl)
