04/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 4 June, the European Commission approved the proposed takeover of the Reflex paper production mill in Germany, which currently belongs to the Finnish paper manufacturer M-Real, by the French paper manufacturer Arjowiggins, subject to conditions. This decision closes the investigation launched in 2007 because of competition concerns, particularly on the market for carbonless paper (see EUROPE 9561). Arjowiggins, however, undertook to divest the carbonless paper businesses at the Reflex paper mill and the Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA).
