EU welcomes election victory of pro-Europeans which “should enable Serbia to advance on its EU path”

Brussels, 13/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Union has welcomed the clear victory of pro-Europeans in the Serbian general elections on Sunday 11 May. The Democratic Party (DS) of President Boris Tadic won 38.8% of the vote (102 of the 250 seats in parliament), with the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) of ultra-nationalist Tomislav Nikolic gaining 77 seats in parliament.
