Brussels, 14/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs will be visiting Magdeburg on Thursday 14 February to meet members of the government of the German 'Land' (region) of Sachsen-Anhalt, including Minister-President Wolfgang Bohmer, Economics Minister Reiner Hasloff, and representatives of industry from the region. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the energy and climate package unveiled by the European Commission on 23 January 2008 (see EUROPE 9586) and the development of renewables in the Land. Piebalgs will visit a combined heat and power plant running in part off biogas and thermal energy. (E.H.)
