OPEC notches up 10% rise in 2006 revenue - According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the 13 OPEC member countries notched up nearly $675 billion in proceeds last year thanks to their exports of crude. This is 10% more than the previous year and 33% more than in 2005. Saudi Arabia recovers the largest gross amount with $194 billion, i.e. 29% of the total. According to EIA statistics, OPEC could see this amount rise to $850 billion in 2008 and $783 billion in 2009. This is followed by the United Arab Emirates ($63 billion), Iran ($57 billion), Nigeria ($55 billion), Kuwait ($54 billion), Algeria ($51 billion), Venezuela ($48 billion), Angola ($44 billion), Libya ($41 billion), Iraq ($37 billion), Qatar ($27 billion) and Ecuador ($8 billion). Only Indonesia has a deficit, of $4 billion. (I.L.)
