Brussels, 31/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - At a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday 30 January, Secretary General of the European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) Peter Scherrer criticised the redundancy programme being carried out by mobile telephone manufacturer Nokia. On 15 January, the Finnish firm announced the closure of its factory in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and the transfer of operations to Cluj in Romania. Nokia's plans will make 2,300 people redundant.
