11/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - In the near future, Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planning to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy - both of whom oppose Turkey joining the EU - to discuss the future of EU-Turkey relations. At a press conference in Ankara on 10 January 2008, Erdogan said the politicians would meet in Germany, but did not give a date. He simply commented that the meeting would take place in Germany and the politicians would discuss the future. On Friday, Turkish diplomats in Brussels said they did not yet have details about the meeting. At the press conference, Erdogan repeated Turkey's determination to continue with EU accession preparations. (H.B.)
