21/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 15 November, the European Commission adopted its proposal on the orientation of fishing product prices for 2008. It explained that for fresh products, increases will be between +0.5 and +3% for most white fish (cod, redfish, saithe and haddock); decreases of between -1.5 and -3% for the majority of pelagic species, (mackerel, anchovies and albacore) and slight rises for crustaceans. In the field of frozen products, the proposal mainly reflects decreasing prices on the international markets, with decreases of between -0.5 and -3% for Greenland halibut, whole hake, swordfish, prawns and squid. Finally, the proposal calls for a +2% increase in Community producer prices for tuna products. (L.C.)
