Small steps forward made by Moscow on differential tariffs on export of Russian wood

Strasbourg, 25/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - Has the appeal to the Russian authorities made last week by European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson (EUROPE 9526) partially worked? On the eve of the EU/Russia Summit in Mafra this Friday, Moscow has tabled a new, improved proposal for its differentiated export tariffs on wood in the rough. This is an issue on which bilateral discussions between Brussels and Moscow have faltered in the context of the negotiations for Russian accession to the WTO....
