05/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - In a joint press release ahead of the forthcoming 2007 World Radiocommunication Conference, ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association), the GSM Association, the NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Networks) Alliance and the UMTS Forum express their disappointment at the CEPT (European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations) proposal to postpone the decision on the allocation of some frequencies of the UHF (ultra high frequency) band to mobile services until the next conference in 2011. “Any delay in opening this spectrum to mobile services … risks hampering the development of European industries and the deployment of new innovative offerings while consumer demand is increasing,” the press release says.
