04/07/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 4 July, the Commission confirmed that it had carried out unannounced inspections in several member states, on 3 and 4 July, targeting various producers of hardware for windows and doors (metal equipment used for the fastening, handling and locking of windows and doors, using bolts, handles, locks and hinges, etc). The Commission suspects that the companies in question may have violated article 81 of the EC Treaty (illegal cartels). (cd)
