25/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Parliament adopted the report by Italian Lega Nord MEP Francesco Speroni and decided not to lift German Social Democrat Vural Öger's immunity. Mr Öger is suspected by the Belgian justice system of involvement in kidnapping. The Parliament followed the guidance of the legal committee, which felt that the evidence brought forward by the Belgian magistrate did not warrant the lifting of the MEP's immunity. (oj)
