Brussels, 13/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 18 April, the European Commission will adopt its new strategy on market access, proposed by Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson. This strategy will bring together all the strategies through which the Commission intends to remove the obstacles to export markets for Community businesses. In particular, the Commission wants to work more closely with member states in third countries and increase the speed and harmonisation of the treatment of, and follow-up on, problems raised by European companies over access to markets. The document, which Mr Mandelson and a representative of BusinessEurope will present to press on Wednesday, follows on from the public consultation exercise launched at the end of 2006, which called on European businesses to submit ideas or improving the Community market access strategy.
