Brussels, 11/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - The 27 health ministers of the member states of the European Union, together with those of the three candidate countries (Turkey, Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) will join European Commissioner Markos Kyprianou in Aachen on 19-20 April, for a meeting to be chaired by German Federal Minister Ulla Schmidt.
The access of European citizens to effective health care will be the major theme of this informal meeting, at which Commissioner Kyprianou will present the ministers with the results of the broad consultation on healthcare services, carried out in the context of patient mobility (see, amongst others, EUROPE 9379 and 9362).
The ministers will also have the opportunity to revisit the priorities of the German presidency, particularly in the fields of prevention and the promotion of healthy lifestyles and physical exercise. (oj)
