Brussels, 02/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, on behalf of the Union, the Commission took on the 2007 presidency of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, a joint initiative of the governmental authorities, the international diamond industry and the civil society aimed at combating the so-called “conflict” diamonds, raw diamonds used to finance military operations (for more information, see EUROPE 9332).
