Brussels, 17/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), responsible for harmonising standards at global level, gave the go-ahead on Thursday to new world systems (On-Board Diagnostic systems) to harmonise measurements of emissions from lorries (trucks) and buses. The new electronic systems measure vehicle emissions and emit special warning beeps to warn drivers of malfunction. The new world systems set measurement requirements to be used by vehicle manufacturers when designing new engines.
