The Indian TATA STEEL company has confirmed that it is in discussions with the Anglo-Dutch CORUS group, and has offered 455 pence per share, which makes CORUS worth $10bn. If it is successful in this operation, TATA STEEL will climb to 6th place in the world in terms of production capacity (22.6 million metric tonnes). (il)
