Commission specifies criteria and procedure to be used when assessing mergers or acquisitions

Brussels, 12/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 12 September, Charlie McCreevy presented to the press a proposal for a directive amending the criteria and rules of procedure to be used for prudent assessment of acquisitions and increased shareholdings in the banking, insurance and real estate sectors (Directives 2006/48/EC, 92/49/EEC, 2002/83/EC, 2005/68/EC and 2004/39/EC).
