Measures backed after Bluetongue discovered in farms in Netherlands, Germany and Belgium

Brussels, 22/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - In the afternoon of 21 August, the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health backed protection measures to be taken against Bluetongue after the disease was discovered in sheep in Belgium and Germany and last week in the Netherlands. Ruminants and their semen, embryos and ova, produced cannot be moved out of the listed areas in a zone of 100 km and surveillances zones in additional area of 50 km covering most of the Netherlands and Belgium,...
