04/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The ALDE group has proposed the German Fulda-Mosocho project for the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize. MEP Alexander Alvaro presented the German NGO project to raise awareness on genital mutilation of young women in Africa. The work of the NGO has brought a drop in this practice in the regions concerned from 98% to 32% in only a few years, says Mr Alvaro in a press release.
