16/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - Ten ministers decided during the 12th Conference of Western Mediterranean Ministers of the Interior (CIMO) on 11-12 May in Nice to elaborate a “common anti-terrorist strategy” with a “periodic evaluation” of the threat, and to cooperate more against “organised crime” (particularly drug trafficking, and enhance their cooperation against organisations trafficking illegal immigrants). At this conference, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia agreed to provide the CIMO with an “operational character”. Franco Frattini declared that the Commission was “prepared to cooperate in coming months with the CIMO”.
