05/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of Senior Officials for Scientific and Technical Research (COST) met in Brussels on 29 and 30 March under the chairmanship of Professor Francesco Fedi. The Committee approved fourteen new research actions and assessed the financial support it would need for the period 2007-2013. The COST secretariat, which contributes mainly to the networking of researchers in Europe, is provided by the European Science Foundation, with support from the Community framework programme for research (RTDFP). To achieve its ambition of having some 250 actions, COST estimates it will need 280 million euro from the “Cooperation” programme of the 7th RTDFP. From 18 to 21 April, COST is organising an exhibition, “COST - a Vision for European Science” at the European Parliament in Brussels. On 18 April Commissioner Janez Potocnik, and Professor Fedi will open the exhibition.
