French cement manufacturer LAFARGE has made a bid on its subsidiary, LAFARGE NORTH AMERICA (turnover $4.3 billion in 2005 with 15,000 employed) of which it already controls 53.2% of the capital. The group is proposing to buy out minorities at $75 per share, i.e. $3 billion in total.
