26/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 25 January, the European Commission approved subsidies of 3,3000,000 euro from the Principality of Asturias to private coal mining companies for the period 2005-2007. The aid scheme aims to improve working safety in mines. These measures are in line with the overall restructuring plan for the Spanish coal industry which has already been approved by the Commission.
