26/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has given its go-ahead for Irish aid in favour of the creation of a bio-pharmaceuticals product factory in Ringaskiddy, in the country of Cork. This EUR 48.25 million subsidy will be paid by the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) to Centecor Inc, which is fully held by the American company, Johnson & Johnson. The new plant will manufacture bio-pharmaceutical active substances for final medicines for the treatment of human pathologies. It may generate 750 jobs. The Commission considers the aid would not entail excessive competition distortion and that it is compatible wit the rules on regional aid in favour of major investment projects.
