12/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a press release issued by the Austrian Presidency on behalf of the EU on 11 January: 'The EU welcomes the release of Jiang Weiping. 'He was on the EU list of individual prisoners of concern and the EU has raised his case several times with the Chinese authorities. The EU hopes that the Chinese authorities will release further prisoners on this list in the near future.'
