Brussels, 14/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Forza Italia MEP Antonio Antoniozzi has expressed satisfaction with the response given by European Culture and Multilingualism Commissioner Jan Figel to his umpteenth question about languages in Europe. In a 14 September press release, Antoniozzi says that Jan Figel had written to him that day that the Commission had decided to unveil a proposal on multilingualism. Antoniozzi said he had personally been fighting to support the teaching of Italian overseas, and for the role of Italian to be recognised following the publication of a Eurydice report putting Italian almost bottom of the list in Europe because of the habitual domination of English, French and German. Antoniozzi is pleased to learn that in the future, the European Commission will be publishing vacancy notices for high-level officials in all EU official languages rather than only in French, English and German.
