25/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Movement International (EMI), chaired by Jose Maria Gil-Robles, is organising a seminar in Helsinki, Finland, on 7 September 2005 in collaboration with the European Movement Finland and the United Nations Association of Finland on the EU's role in the world. Alongside Jose Maria Gil-Robles, participants include Finnish foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja and former EU Development Commissioner Poul Nielson. A press release explains that the event will end with a panel discussion on the political creation of a common 'European Strategy on Global Governance'. The Helsinki Conference 2005 is the final event of the Helsinki Process on Globalisation and Democracy, launched in 2002 at a conference on the problems of global governance and the future of North-South relations.
