29/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Council of the EU adopted, by written procedure, the common action concerning the appointment of Jan Kubiœ as special Representative of the EU for Central Asia. "The creation of this post reflects the EU's increasing in commitment to this very important region", said Javier Solana, the EU High Representative for CFSP. "Ambassador Kubiœ's job will be to promote good and close relations between the countries of Central Asia and the EU, on the basis of common values and interests", he added. Mr Kubiœ, who was born in Bratislava in 1952, is the outgoing secretary general of the OSCE.
