17/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - In Warsaw, several events took place on the sidelines of the Summit of the Council of Europe. The first was a mass and an evening of prayer in Pilsudski Square: between 4,000 and 5,000 people prayed for the speedy beatification of John Paul II. Almost all the brochures distributed by the Polish authorities referred to the former pontiff and his successor, Benedict XVI.
