14/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - MEP Georg Jarzembowski (CDU) condemns in a press release the “anti-secession” law recently adopted by the Beijing People's Congress and which, in his view, is just one more reason for rejecting the lifting of the embargo on arms exports towards China envisaged by the EU. With this law, Beijing seeks to assume the right to “threaten and aggress Taiwan with military force”, the MEP exclaims, asserting: “The 23 million Taiwanese citizens have the unchallengeable right to decide on their own destiny - whether this means reunification with the mainland or their own sovereign State”. “Unlike the People Republic of China, Taiwan is a real democracy with a multi-party system, an independent justice system and the guarantee of human rights”, he explained.
