14/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - International Dialogue on Taxation (IDT) will hold its first international conference on the theme of Value Added Tax on 15-16 March. The conference was called for by the Italian ministry of the economy and finance. European Commissioner for taxation and customs, Laszlo Kovacs, will be taking part. Themes will include: how financial services deal with tax matters, tax evasion and what VAT means to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the public sector and e-commerce. The IDT is a common initiative of the International Monetary fund, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Bank. It aims at encouraging dialogue between governments and international organisations in an effort to improve how national fiscal systems work.
