23/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - MEP Armando Dionisi (UDC) has indicated in a communication that he has written to Hans-Gert Pöttering, the President of the PPE-DE group of which he is a member, to draw attention to “discrimination against Italian in group meetings”. The Italian Christian-democrat says that he has noticed “with regret that the group's communications and documents are written only in English, French and German”. And he warns: “the language issue has substantial impact on Italian public opinion because our country was one of the founders of the European idea and of the PPE group, and this is seen as a (…) desire to relegate Italy to a less important role”.
