23/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a press release Wilfried Martens president of the European People's Party (EPP) welcomed the “yes” vote of the Spanish in the referendum on the European Constitution, which he said proved once again that Spain was at the heart of Europe. However, he regretted the barely 42% turnout and said that he government would have to look at the reasons for such a high level of abstentionism.
